Who Should have Played Echo in Dollhouse and why?

As any of us prob can agree that ED is the weak link in Dollhouse due to her limited acting range who would you have had play Echo instead?

My choices would be(I know there are reasons it couldn't happen but we can roll with it):

Summer Glau: For obvious reasons, Plus I think she could pull a Doll off much much better since thats basically what river was alot of the Time.

Sarah M. Gellar: I thought she did a better Faith then Faith in Buffy when they swaped bodies. Plus she was my first love as a boy!

Any thoughts?

My suggestion would be anyone else, but people I'd really like to see take on the role would be;

Yvonne Strahovski - because I love her and she's a fantastic actress, but obviously she's on Chuck and couldn't be a lead in both shows.

Elisha Cuthbert - Jack Bauer's daughter. Need I say more?

Jamie Lynn Siegler - Tony Soprano's daughter. Again, need I say more?

Holly Valance - I think she could pull it off really well - she does seem to have the acting range.

I'd also agree with Summer Glau and Sarah Michelle Gellar - was just considering people who weren't already part of the Whedon Universe.

Tbf if i had my way i'd scrap the whole echo storyline cause even her whiney aminal saving caroline annoys me.

Is it too late to base it on viktor??

She'd be no better than Eliza Dushku, I don't think she has the range to pull off new active week after week, she's suited to very specific roles which she's great in, like Dushku does bad-girl characters. They need someone with a lot of range, for me the only characters that have done this are Victor, Sierra and Alpha.

I'd still like to see her in the show, but not as the star, no way just as a cameo or small part, much smaller than victor or sierra even.

I'd vote for Glau, but i can understand the concerns she might not have the range. BUT...from a PR perspective it would be a coup! and draw in alot of TSCC fans and general Glau fanboys.

I'd say give her a shot, make her new active Foxtrot!!...Wheadon could always kill her off if she sucks :-)

I just watched the episode Intervention at the weekend and not only does she pull off the Buffybot convincingly. But in the final scene where Buffy approaches Spike as the Buffybot, she is very obviously Buffy slightly self-consciously pretending to be the Buffybot. It's the type of thing that you'd watch without ever thinking about the type of talent it takes to pull it off so well. If Eliza wasn't so terrible as a doll I wouldn't have noticed.

Of course SMG has her own new HBO show that she's currently filming and she's also expecting a baby, so I don't think she'd be up for anything with action involved.

Your prob right and I wouldn't want her cut from the show (eye candy aside) but I don't think she is a strong enough actress to pull off the lead. we constantly talk about Viktors range so someone who could have done that would have been best.
